Steve is the former Commander of the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team where he participated in hundreds of mountain rescues. He is also a part-time ski patroller at the Brighton Ski Resort and a wilderness first responder instructor for the Wilderness Medical Institute of NOLS. Steve has written articles on rope rescue for Advanced Technical Rescue and Wilderness Medicine magazines, and has presented at the Mountain Rescue Association and the International Technical Rescue Symposium. Steve is an advisor to the Utah Governor's Centers of Excellence where he reviews emerging technology at Utah's universities.
Steve served on the UITA (Utah Information and Technology Association) board for four years where he was involved with capital formation and public policy.
Steve served on the Board of Trustees for Rowland-Hall Saint Mark's School for eight years where he chaired the Technology Committee and was a member of the Finance Committee.
Steve served on the Board of Trustees of the Ronald McDonald House where he was involved in technology integration.
Steve developed and maintained MathesonForCongress.com for six years. He continues to host their ecommerce services. He also developed the website for a recent gubernatorial candidate and was a state delegate in Utah.
